Griffin Gold
Here at Southern Highlands Prep, home of the Griffins, character traits such as kindness and honesty are highly valued in and out of the classroom and we consider them “Griffin Gold.” Every month, we choose a new character trait for our students to focus on. Students not only try to embody the trait but also inspire their peers to act similarly, as they shoot for the Griffin Gold.
In addition to using Griffin Gold as a way to motivate students to be their best, most authentic selves, it is a way to inspire school spirit. The positivity that emanates throughout a school full of kind, honest, and happy students help school pride live on!

At Southern Highlands Prep, all grades get to take at least one field trip per quarter. Field trips connect classroom learning to the real world and provide hands-on, visual examples which can help them to better understand certain topics.
Our first graders go to an orchard and get to pick pumpkins, which focuses on their lessons about the environment and life cycle of plants while giving a peek into the agriculture industry. Our fourth graders visit the Mojave Desert to learn about different ecosystems, weather, and terrain. Our education leadership field trip is the biggest of the year. Middle school students spend two nights and three days at the Pali Institute and immerse themselves in learning about leadership while also adopting the basics of independence.
Now that we’ve gotten to tell you what’s so special about our school, we’d love to learn what makes your family special. We invite you to attend our next Open House or schedule a private tour.
